The Cold Weather Is Here

Colder weather is rolling in and we need to be ready. Winter is less than a month away and with freezing temperatures in the forecast, we must be prepared to drive to work in less than ideal conditions.

“Winter is coming,” says any Game of Thrones fan, and they aren’t lying.

Winter starts December 21 and lasts till March 20. This weather can be inconvenient and take a deadly turn if you aren’t prepared. AAA, a nationwide roadside assistance and insurance company, offers several recommendations for commuters driving in hazardous conditions.

AAA states the following on their website:
“Avoid driving while you’re fatigued. Make certain your tires are properly inflated. Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze-up. Do not use cruise control when driving on any slippery surface (wet, ice, sand). Always look and steer where you want to go. Use your seatbelt every time you get into your vehicle.”

The colder weather brings out many fun activities. The overbearing heat of summer is finally fading away and the mountain are starting to receive snow. This brings out the snowboarders, and skiers while drivers begin grabbing the chains for their tires. Snow reports start appearing as beach reports start to phase out. Luckily, here in California, we will not experience the harsher weather that the rest of the country will. Most Californians will mainly experience sunshine with the occasional stormy day.
